From the time I was a very young girl, I listened to a variety of musical recordings. Everyday, my father played a large stack of records covering different genres of music. This included Big Band, Jazz/Blues, Novelty songs and Country Western. I loved all the recordings; however, Big Band and Jazz/Blues were my favorites. I have loved the musical movies that were popular in the 1940s and have spent many hours watching all these movies.
Later in life, I moved from the Midwest to Pensacola, Florida, where I attended many live Jazz/Blues performances. I also discovered that there was Big Band performances in Mobile, Alabama so became a frequent member of the audience.
It was not until about three years ago that I realized I could add music to some of my poetry I had written. I was so excited to discover that I was able to make a song with my words and music.
Still, I needed a way to have my songs recorded and someone to sing them. It was only recently that one of my nephews showed me how this was possible. After the songs were recorded the next problem was to find a venue to display the songs. Brandon (my grandson) came to my rescue by becoming my producer and creating my platform and website.
Creating my songs took lots of passion and dedicated work but it has been a journey I have loved. My purpose is to make as many of my songs as possible and hope that they will bring joy to others.
